Humor in Serious Fiction

I intend to focus on perhaps the two most fascinating aspects of fiction for me personally: beautiful prose in an era that sometimes seems to disparage it and the use of comic elements in work that is nevertheless serious. There will likely be an emphasis on work that may not have have gained a very wide audience. My sources will be mainly literary magazines and independent book sellers, although I reserve the right to rave about something I run across in the more popular media. I hope to begin in October, 2013.
